DIY Box Full of Fun

I think a little box full of goodies is about the best gift you can give or receive. The fun of finding treasure upon treasure all confined to a small space is exhilarating!

You can find this diy box at Creature Comforts. Ez is amazingly talented and I love her blog. She gives a complete list of what's included in this box and links to free printables for the tags. Could it get much better? No, not today.

Get Your Big Hat Ready

The Kentucky Derby is tomorrow. I really enjoy watching the race and really, really enjoy the amazing hats. It's on my bucket list.

Mish Mash

I've got a lot on my mind lately. I'm going back to school soon. I'm patiently waiting for warmer days to complete some home projects. My children are growing up too fast. And I just have this basic feeling of unrest. Either something big is going to happen or I'll have a panic attack. But I'll cope either way and continue to find pretty stuff that I want. Like this houndstooth bedskirt...

And these pallet pieces. (If anyone in my small farm town saw these being used as high fashion items they would laugh themselves silly. Seriously. These are lying on the side of the road around here. I've always thought they had an untapped beauty to them.)

I have a chair that has not held up nearly as well as it should have. So now I'm going to have to slip cover it and I would love to do it in a diagonal stripe. Now the problem is finding diagonal stripe fabric that is affordable. This fabric is only sold in England. Not so affordable. But amazingly beautiful.

Wow!

This beautiful window display is from Anthropologie, of course. Do you think it comes in a size 2?

And for another, completely different, Wow, read my sister-in-law, Kayla's, story of racing in the Boston Marathon. You will be inspired!

Blog Adoration

I can't get enough of Dottie Angel today. I want to be able to coordinate multiple florals like she does. And I love the vintage pillowcases she uses. I've got my collection started.

Yay For Weekends!

I don't have much planned for the weekend and that's just the way I like it! Here are some pretties to keep you happy...

Who doesn't need a zebra pinata?

Which would you rather have? A wedding inspired by lemon meringue pie or a China cabinet? Both are beautiful!

A local shop that I MUST go to this weekend. If you're in the Treasure Valley, stop by The Brass Razoo and say hi to Elise, she's awesome.

And you have to read this 4 part birth story from CJane. I love birth stories:)

3 Decorating Mistakes to Avoid

A good way to save money when decorating your home is to avoid making costly mistakes. Here are three decorating mistakes many people make.

1. Buying furnishings before having a plan can result in impulse purchases of things that you may not need. The best way to avoid making this mistake is to decide on your personal decorating plan before you go shopping. Based on your plan make a list of what items you will need to purchase and stick to the list.

2. Painting the walls a "safe" neutral color that will go with everything can end up being a costly mistake. One of the least expensive and most effective ways to make a room look magnificent is with color. When the walls are painted linen white it is often necessary to add more fabrics and accessories in order for the room to feel furnished. Painting the walls a color costs no more, and can create a mood or feeling that brings a whole new design element to the room. The key is to first decide on the feeling you want to create and then use the right colors to achieve it.

3. Buying furniture that is not the right size for the room can bring costly consequences. When the furniture is too large it can make the room feel cramped and limit placement options. When it is too small it can necessitate buying more furniture than is necessary in order to create a sense of balance and make the room feel furnished.

No mater what your budget is, you are sure to save money if you begin with a plan.

Beautiful!

So much to love about this room. The amazing rug, the worn leather sofa, the '54', the dark floors...I could go on and on!

And isn't this wall color beautiful? The black chairs with the white table are a nice touch.

And the orange/sky blue combo! Ugghhh, it's killing me with simple beauty!!!
